POSITION SUMMARY:


The successful candidate will support all phases of the litigation process including participating in settlement negotiations, legal research, document filing, attending trials, depositions and mediations.


PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct pre-claim investigation, legal research and initial case assessments
  • Maintain pleadings and discovery indexes
  • Organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs and appendices
  • Gather relevant information from a variety of sources
  • Provide assistance with case settlements
  • Obtains information required to comply with subpoenas, requests for production of documents, or other forms of pretrial discovery, and conducts investigatory research in litigation matters
  • Provides litigation support, involving such activities as developing and maintaining files and reports; routing complaints to appropriate insurers/outside counsel; drafting/coordinating responses to interrogatories, requests for admission/search/produce documents, fact investigations and discovery responses, interviews, document reviews/gatherings/productions/indexing; investigates facts, attends trials/depositions, takes notes, and prepares reports
  • Serves as Liaison with Corporate Counsel and outside counsel for litigation and general business matters

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree; and 3 - 5 years’ related experience in risk management, legal or insurance environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; and demonstrated successful ability to build positive partnerships, while working collaboratively with cross-functional business teams
  • Demonstrated successful ability to organize and prioritize work to ensure timely deadlines
  • Ability to function at a high level of effectiveness, flexibility, independence and initiative without daily interaction with management
  • Intermediate computer skills required including Microsoft Office Suite, knowledge with excel functions such as v-look up, pivot tables, charts, etc.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • Familiarity with the plumbing industry and products
  • Product Liability Experience
